ata sata

when you boot from the wins. cd You need to load third party drivers at at the begining (watch the screen at the bottem it will say press f6 now to load third party drivers)Later it will give you the chance to laod them (these come from the m/board makers or the main chip makers ie. via sis or itel ????.
It's normal to load them from an A drive so arange the boot sequence as A/D/C...and READ THE SCREEN !!!!!!

Hi,

Just need a little clarity. You said ata Sata or whichever it is and you also talked about an old computer. Do you actually know if we are dealing with a Sata drive or is it one of the older model ide Pata drives. Usually, you will have a thiner and smaller cable to the Sata, but the older ide drives you will have a wide ribbon cable. Do you know which is in there?

Hi,

A couple of things.

When one messes with a computer, it is quite likely that the Hard Drive Priority changed (has that option in newer computers) or the Boot Order Changed in the BIOS setup menu:

Set your boot order to:

CDRom - 1st
Floppy - 2nd
Sata - 3rd (boot drive)

When that is done, the default for motherboards is with Raid Enabled...so, you need to go in there (usually in the advanced area) and set the Raid feature to DISABLED. Since you didn't list the motherboard, I have no idea how it might look in the BIOS setup menu, but it should be in there if you have Raid on that board and it is searching.

Note: Don't forget to save before you exit.

Post back with questions and/or concerns.

Addendum: Darn, forgot something. If you have a single IDE drive hooked up, you said it was a slave. Just remember this rule: "There can be no slave without a master." Therefore, it should be set to master if you don't have a slave on the same cable, and it would be placed in the END position on the cable.
