breaking raid 0
Hi, I just am wondering if it is possible to transfer my operating system from a raid 0 set up to a single hard drive?
I have had a raid 0 in this pc for about a year and find the lag at boot up and when opening apps to be annoying and want to try on a single drive, right now, my boot takes awhile as the 3 hd's I have are on 2 different controllers adding to the bios post, and my startup takes forever, lol besides, these wd's I'm using are noisy! If I could xfer my os to a single seagate, it would quiet my system down and hopefully at least sped up my boot sequence. any advice would be appreciated. Pint

I have never personally tried to do what you suggest but I do not see why it would not be possible if you use a ghosting program as it should by rights just make a single image of the raid array and not an image of each drive individual drive, if you then install this onto your new drive I do not see why it shouldn't boot.
I personally would not touch the raid array until this is confirmed though, I would simply disable the array from the boot order until you confirmed that the new drive will boot. There are quite a few good backup programs about, I have norton ghost but there are some free ones out there also Let us know how you go
