a slow boot was solved by running chkdsk /r

I originally posted in the Highjackthis log post. My PC was working fine and then suddenly became very very slow (8 min boot). I was helped out in that post by way of running chkdsk /r. The person who helped me recomended that I post a thread in this forum so I can get some assitance with my hard drive.

How do I find out if my hard drive is dying on me, how can I prevent or fix and do I need to replace? It boots up smoothly, everything seems ok, so far... I just baught an external drive to begin backing up my work.

Go to the drive manufacturers website, download their drive utility and run a diagnostics against the drive.

I would strongly suggest that you backup the drive while it is working if you have anything important on it. Do that before doing anything else incase the drive is going bad.
