swap OS from full C drive to larger D drive
Hi all.
My computer is clone from 1999...Pentium 450 ll, 256 ram, and has been upgraded to Windows XP 2000. Since the XP change 2 years ago it works pretty well. But...the upgrade to XP just about maxed out the original 8 GIG C drive. Defragmenter won't finish a run due to insufficient space...it says there is only 8% room left. I have a second drive, the D unit, it is 20 GIG, about 13 gig still open. Tried to move some files off the c drive to the d, but can't find anything large enough to make a real difference...afraid to mess with portions of the OS or other programs that warn removal of any part may screw up other things... How to move the ENTIRE current C drive contents, OS etc. to the essentially open D drive, and then redesignate the drives. Would retain the old c drive for non-essential stuff. Hope to replace the entire old computer this year, its just not feasible at the moment. Thanks, Pete |

The noob answer..
Maybe you should run a program that can copy all of the contents of your current drive to the designated drive. It should have came with the drive when you bought it. After you run the program then set the hard drive designated to be the master and fix the corresponding cables. I hope the noob answer helped.
