My hard drive is SMART, but I'm not
Just found out my hard drive was S.M.A.R.T. Got a message on bootup that the drive was in need of service. I ignored the message for two weeks.
Guess what? The drive died today. Ahhhh!!!! Took me all day to recover, and I'm still not there. So I guess SMART is SMART. Found this handy Q&A in case you don't know what SMART is. http://www.techtodayonline.com/index...pic,151.0.html |

Thanks for posting. As your link says..."you should not ignore the message. Back up all data on the drive that reported the S.M.A.R.T message, or copy it to another drive. Then make arrangements to replace the drive with another."
If your hard drive supports SMART it's a good idea to enable it in BIOS. It won't slow your computer down at all, but is very useful in detecting hardware problems.
