I recently installed a new SATA WD2500KS and cloned original SATA drive using Ghost 10.0. I selected MBR and Set Drive Active when cloning, but I can not boot from the WD drive. I tried removing the original drive and putting the WD drive in it's place but still no boot. Get message about a hardware configuration issue, but I've tried just about everything. Changing BIOS settings did not make a difference. Everything appears to have cloned to the new drive, data, etc... This is starting to give me a serious headache!

that prog is just too darn hard for computer users that dont have a propeller sticking out of their hat !!!
just one question before we get started / you CANT use third party partition software with cloning programs ???? are you using partition magic or anything like that ????? if NO then proceed as follows >>>>> here is what you can do and then YOU tell me the diff go to xxclone.com and sign up for a 30 day trial period of xxclone. download the program / then open it / there are only two windows to work in and NO DOS / in the main window you select the target and the source drives >>>> thats not hard is it ????? then click the advanced button on the lower right corner of the main console window >>> put the three check marks in there for bootable options THATS it !!!!! close the advanced window and hit the start button >>>>> sit back and toss the ghost in the closet >>>>> I have NEVER heard from a user that couldnt get it done with xxclone i would strongly urge you to zero fill (wipe and erase) the drive before starting though / to get a clean start >>>>> dban boot & nuke is in my signature and its free !!! download and run the floppy drive version >>>> when dban starts >>>> just type the AUTONUKE command enjoy & please stop back and give us some feedback joe

Linderman,
thanks for your help. xxclone worked without a hitch, now if I could only get my money back for buying Norton #$%^$^ Ghost. I wish I would have asked here first before I wasted $49.00. I can't believe it was so simple. |
