Need some help
Short Story,
Everything was fine and then my proc started to overheat, no prob, replaced the fan on it and it was fine. Then XP wouldnt boot. Just kept restarting the computer whenever it tried to load XP. Fdisk'd the hd and reformat'd. XP keeps giving me the error "Error on HD at 0 byte 0 sector" after trying to install fresh or upgrade from another OS. I am currently using the same machine after having installed ME on it and it is running fine. But I cannot reinstall or upgrade back to XP as I keep getting this error. I have used spinrite and cannot find any physical problems with the HD at all. Any ideas on how to fix this so I can run XP again? I have specific programs that require XP and I cannot figure this out at all. AMD 2.0Ghz 1Gig Ram 40Gb WD-Hd Nvidia GF5200 128Mb Have installed and ran XP Pro - College Edition with unlimited installs (genuine) and never had a problem with this machine before. Havent changed any hardware since the last install. Last edited by Unitearica; 12-08-2005 at 12:22 AM. |

I have found zero filling (erasing) the drive each time you want to load an OS very helpful / I have never had an OS fail to install since I adopted that procedure >>>> Download dban boot & nuke (free & in my signature) that will erase your drive completely of all data info bits causing the install failure
download the floppy version is easiest <<< once the dban console is open choose AUTONUKE make sure you unplug the 4 pin power plug from any drives in your system that you DONT want erased / dban is capable of erasing multople drives should you select that option accidentally. regards joe
