hp pavilion mx90 monitor shuts off

Hello thank you for answering my questions. We just acquired a pre-owned hp pavilion mx90 monitor for our compaq computer mv720 because the screen was staying pink.
plugged everything in and it seemed compatible because all the icons and the messenger stuff came up on the screen as usual. Nevertheless, once we signed in the screen went black. It came on again when we hits the monitor on/off button, but then promptly went to black again.
I really like the monitor's style and look, plus it has speakers. Is it salveagable?
Thank you for your help.

Welcome to TSF

After you get the blank screen, Use a flash light and see if you can see an image in the screen. If you can it meens the backlight or the inverter has went out. If this is the case then they can be fixed, I have no idea what it would cose.
