Must be a thread out there that already covers this...

....and well if there isn't well here's one. My friend has a Vision notebook (this is all I know about the notebook), the harddrive went bad, no power to it at all, she bought a new harddrive, a Toshiba (thats all I know about it), and now she's stuck on what to do cuz it won't work in the laptop either, and since I am really not good with all this, I am just trying to help and find out what she can do. I was thinking about having her masterslave it but since I am already stuck on another computer with that problem, I decided to post a new thread. Any ideas, any threads that will help? I can find out information on the harddrive and notebook if you need it.
