moving to a new hard drive

i got a new pc and i need to move the data from the old hard to the new one, what is the easiest way to do that ?

Welcome to TSF:

install the new drive on the same cable with your new drive / make sure new drive is in the middle of the cable / and set jumper pins on drive to slave (see instructions with drive) then choose below

Two options come to mind / the manufacturer of your hard drive has programs available at their website to transfer your data over to your new drive ?????

MY personal favorite is to partition the drive so that one partition on the new drive is the same size as the old drive / then use xxclone.com (free trial period) and clone (exact bootable copy) your old drive contents to the new drive and it will be bootable / then you can erase old drive and live happily ever after / but the VERY best solution is to clone your old drive to the new drive and keep old drive for a "bootable" back-up in case you have a drive failure you wont miss one blink / and you keep updating or re-cloning your drive every couple of weeks or once a month (your preferences) so you are never left without an awesome back-up

xxclone is very easy to use / only two menus to interact with / the main window that has you select your source drive (old drive) and select your target drive (new drive) and then click on the advanced button and put a check mark into the bootable options boxes (3 of them) >>>> thats its / let er rip

what ever works ???~~ i guess I have used Ghost ~~ not really a friendly program for a first time cloner / but its a good prog never the less
