taking an old hard drive into a new mobo
ok, i have a 30gb hdd in my old p3 800mhz machine. i am curious if there is anyway you can pop that out and put it onto a new mobo. if it depends on the mobo specifications i can go get those, just let me know. the new mobo supports the athlon 2400+. if you need more info on the computers/parts in question, email me at po1son84@yahoo.com. thanks

you can put it in as a slave,if you want to use it as a primary you will need to format for the best results or you may get away with a repair install

for best results, like dai said its best to install a fresh copy of your o/s if you are transferring the hdd into a new system.
i heard though if you dont want to format the hdd, and assume you didnt take the hdd out of the old computer , go into the device manager and uninstall everything in the device manager. then take the hdd out and put it in the new system. ive never done this before nor do i recommend it. its best to install a fresh o/s on the hdd. |
