Setting Up RAID 0 Configuration In ASUS P4P800 Mobo

Hello All, I'am Newbie here need few advise for set up my first RAID System

Here is My System :

ASUS P4P800 Intel865PE Chipset
Bios Ver.1019
2x Serial ATA Maxtor 120Gb Cache 8Mb 7200Rpm
Windows XP Proffesional Service Pack 2

I Want to set Raid 0 configuration on my system, i already read Intel Application Accelerator Raid Edition Manual and also ASUS manual Book but when i started it in BIOS configuration in this setting :

IDE Configuration : Enhanced Mode
Enable Serial ATA as RAID : yes
Enable Boot ROM for Serial ATA : yes

In manual book it told that we must press ctrl-i during POST, but the problem is, the notification is not show up and my system also not detected my serial ata drive. i rather confuse bout this, and when i turn back the system into normal, i mean disable serial ata as RAID, my drive show up again. any idea ?

perhaps somebody that have same system as me, coul give me step-by step guide to set up RAID system.

oh and another silly questions, can we partitioning a raid system ? i mean if we had already created RAID 0, can we divide it into few partition using partition magic as ussual ?

Thanx for ur all kind of attention..

From what I can see on this board, is that you have 2 SATA RAID controllers, The Intel ICH5R, that is embedded in the southbridge, and an independent Promise 20378 controller that has 2 SATA ports and an IDE channel. Check and make sure that you are connecting the drives to the correct controller. If you use the promise controller then you have to enable it in the BIOS.

I'am sorry i'am not too clear for what you mentioned before, i think my mobo doesn't have any promise controller, just embedded Intel ICH5R RAID controller. based on ASUS manual book, i already enable this boot rom for RAID as i mentioned before, and when i enable it, my bios didn't detect my serial ata drive. Thanx.

Do you have the full model number. There seems to be several variations of the P4P800.

You should press ctrl-i after the MB main post the RAID controller will post after the main BIOS POST.
