RAID faster than SATA?

I used to have RAID Stripe. Because I had some issues with Windows registry I hooked up my 2 Maxtor SATA Drives just with the SATA connection. Is my PC running slower now? PC Mark 2002 gave me a CPU 6700 points, with RAID I had 7600 points.
Is 2x 80Gig HDD with RAID 0 better (faster) than 1x160 SATA?
Intel P4 3.0 GHz, ASUS P4C800E Deluxe.

My System

The raid striped will be faster than the single 160 sata, not heaps faster but it will be faster. The only advantage I can see with useing a single sata drive over a raid 0 is that it reduces the chance of loosing your data by 50%. As you more than likely know with raid 0 if you loose one drive all data is lost.

I am currently using 2 X 80G sata drives in a raid 0 and the benchmark results are way ahead of my 80G ide drive I use as a backup drive it's not funny
