problem with a maxtor diamond max plus 9

I bought this hard drive about 2-3 days ago and now it isn't working i belevie that someting was dislodged in the hard drive as it is no longer spinning also every so oftern there is an unusual noise made by it. It can't be read by the computer anymore it was in an external case but the case still seems to be working fine.
I dont think it can be fixed but i thouight i should check here first. (mostly because if i take it back and it still works it will cost me money )

edit
here is the wierd noise it makes
hard drive noise
it makes the noise near end of recording

If you go to the Maxtor web site you should be able to download software to test this drive.

In this case, I think it is safe to return it.

There is an on-line RMA procedure for Maxtor, so I'd visit their site and apply for the RMA that way.
