Disk Read Error Occurred

I accidentally dropped my laptop (IBM Thinkpad, Windows 2000) on to the floor about a foot off the ground. It was workin ok after that, but Internet Explorer wouldn't work. Then all of a sudden, comp froze, I rebooted, and now its takin me to the "Disk Read Error Occurred...Ctrl + Alt + Del" menu and thats it...
If anyone could help me out, it would be much appreciated...I'm a complete noob...thanks guys.

Send a message via MSN to jcline
First of all try running error-checking on the disk by...
Double-click on my computer, right-click the hard drive and choose properties
Click on the Tools tab and click Check Now in the Error-checking section

thanks for the reply, but i can't even access my computer. it won't load up past the "disc read error". i'd press ctrl+alt+del, it would try rebooting, but then it would just go back to the "disc read error.
