Partition Magic 7 woes!!!

I am using PartitionMagic V7 (Build (303) on an XP SP2 Dell.

I tried to Redistribute Free Space, using the wizard, between 2 NTFS partitions on Primary HD2 (non-bootable second HD). PM asked for a reboot then attempted to make the changes in safe mode. The reduction to the first partition went ahead OK but the increase in the second partition froze the PC (there was clearly enough space). I had to then power off and reboot at which point XP 'found new hardware' and I lost access to the second partition.

It is now listed in PM as "Type - Other" (in yellow), the Partition is called *: with Type "PqRP" (I am not sure whether the "RP" means "Recoverable Partition"?) and the new capacity of 94GB is shown as fully used (which is incorrect).

I cannot use PM to Check for Errors as this option is greyed out. I also got an Error #702 at some stage.

How can I change the Type back to NTFS and try to recover my data?

One would think that Partition Magic would somehow try to protect users from this type of error which is the core of the program's functionality!

Many thanks in advance for any advice!

My System

well, i was going to try and help...

i remember using 7 on windows 2000 and it seemed to freeze, and then a friend of mine yelled at me when i was about to reboot...

it sat there for 45 minutes, and then was no longer froze.

i think you may have hosed your disk when you hit reset.

(also, now that i look at thier website, i see that they are now owned by norton, so anything that they do isn't going to suprise me anymore.)

maybe someone knows about another non-norton product that can help...

but into the trash mine goes, now that i see that norton owns them.
