Built a computer using an Asus P4S800D-X mother board and Maxtor 250gb SATA hard drive. The hard drive shows in the bios but when I try and load win xp it stops when it's ready to write to the hard drive with a message I don't have a hard drive device. I've tried everything I know and called everyone I could thing of. Anyone know what I am doing wrong, I sure don't.

Hello and welcome to TSF.
You will need to extract the SATA controller drivers off the CD ROM that came with the motherboard and put them onto a floppy disk. During the Weindows install, at the bottom of the screen you will be prompted to press F6 to install any additional third party SCSI or RAID devices. You will need to press F6 and later, during the install, you will be promted again to load drivers from the floppy for these additional devices. |
