Ultra100 Tx2 hang the computer when both IDE1 and IDE2 on the card! HELP!
Hi,
I'm running XP Pro and I have have a VERY strange problem with my Ultra100 TX2 controler card : 1. When I try to plug one Maxtor 120 go hd one the IDE 1 or IDE 2 of the controler, I get the "famous" message "Ultra100 tx2 BIOS not installed..blabla..." but XP load correctly and I can access all my drives. (my OS is on another drive in one of the motherboard IDE) 2. When I try to use both controler`s IDE1 and 2 with a 120 go and a 250 go hard drives, I still get the "Ultra100 tx2 BIOS not installed..blabla..." but it hangs the computer there. 3. When I have both 120 go and 250 go drive in master/slave on the IDE 1 or 2 of the controler, I get the BIOS message, but XP loads. 4. I tried updating the BIOS to 2.00.15 and it started to hang all the time, so I rolled back to 2.00.10 (23) THIS IS driving me crazy. It seems like the controler can`t work with it`s two IDE at the same time. For now, I finally plugged the 120 and 250 in master/slave on the controler and I added my additional 60 gig as slave with my OS drive. Everything works fine, but still...its driving me crazy... Does anybody has an idea? I'm might be too far to pay a beer to the one who`s gonna help me resolve this, but the intention is there! Thanks. Benoit

Normally you will get that message when you do not have a drive installed on the controller. (I.E. It will not install the BIOS for the controller because it does not recognise it has a drive install on it. ) If you already updated the BIOS of the controller and it failed, It would sound to me like you have a defective controller or card.
