Have a Hp pavilion ze1210. its from like 2000, 2001 that area. So it has a few years on it. And latly the hardrive has been stalling and today it just clicks away at a rate that is pretty much stopped. Some people tell me to just buy a new computer but I was wondering if its possible to replace the HD and simply reuse the good old machine. I know theirs prolly no way to retrieve the information lost on it and since its my only computer I'm forced to boot linux of a cd in order to use it. Thank you slax. (slax.linux-live.org) but I did a search on google for Laptop hds and came up with nothing. If there is a site where I can find hds for laptops or anyway to salvage this computer please say it :)

I normally use www.pricewatch.com for my best price searches. For a laptop that's from that era, I'd probably first want to find out what is the largest disk the BIOS supports, it's frequently different than typical desktop systems. If there are any BIOS updates for that model that increase disk capacity, you may want to consider those. It appears that it originally came with a 20gig drive, so I suspect you're probably safe up to 30gigs anyway. All it requires is a standard 2.5" drive, nothing special.
