Strange problem
ok about 1 month ago my brothers computer:
2.09ghz Athlon XP 2600+ 10 GB WD HD 512 mb DDR PC2700 RAM and a Diamond DT388 Sound card got an error while botting up. this was a SMART message telling him his HD was going to die soon, so he didnt have any money and ignored the message, then he encounterd a problem and i needed to reinstall windows (he isnt very computer savy and it seemes he deleted something or something i donno; he doesnt speak much english) anyway in the midst of reinstalling the hard drive dies, yes lol right then..... . so i got a new hard drive from my stash (i have about 14 of them) and tried it out, now heres the thing i need ehlp with. when i finish the Setup during boot, it restarts and then it would want to do setup again... so i changed the boot order and thats when i notice HEY this HDD doesnt show up on the BIOS. ok so i select primary master and then hit esc THATS ALL I DO, after doing that it appears in BIOS, but after another restart it disspears. i have tried numerous HDs and none work. so im out of idea, thanx in advance. |

when your in bios, see what the memory timing is, is it on spd or do you have them set manually, also what board do you have and do you have 2 moduales or 1 -512 chip?
you might have to relax the timings until you get the operating system installed. |
