Help with new WD Sata HD!

Hi, I recently bought a new WD 80GB SATA 150 Hard drive. I am having some problems with it though.

First, I previous had a Hitachi 80GB hard drive, and I decided to add this WD in as well. I screwed it into my case, plugged in all the cables, and everythign seemed fine. BIOS even recognized it!

However, once I went to my computer, it said that I only had my original HItachi drive! In device manager, it saw the new hd, and even in the Western Digital Data Lifeguard Diagnostics, it saw both SATA hard drives. However, under Logical Drives, it showed only my Hitachi.

My hard drive if you need to know is Gigabyte 81K1100 which does has dual sata ports.

Please tell me what I shuld check, do, or install! It would reallly help me out!

Also, back a while ago, I had a fatal system error on my Hitachi HD. My cousin (who works at Intel...) fixed it for me. My system on the boot screen after saying Verifying DMI Pool Data would give me an error (i think it was) that something.DLL was missing. He then bought over a 40GB hard drive which already had XP on it, and he basically made that drive using a program called (R-Drive Image) copy over everything in my Hitachi. My Hitachi went from being 80Gigs capable, to 32Gigs capable!

Just wondering that that might help. If you have info on how to fix that problem too, please help me!!

My System

You will need to partition and format the new drive. Go into Disk Management, (right click My Computer, click Manage, Then click Disk Management) you will be able to see both HDD there and you can partition and format it there. Right click the unalocated space and choose New Partition.
On your Hitachi drive, you should be able to see the remainder of the drive in Disk Management and you can partition the rest of the drive there.

Thanks!

Thanks bro!

I'm at school right now, but I will try it once I get home, and if it works I will let you know.

Thanks again!
