We are using an older version of Xp on our hard drive right now. I have a 40G slave drive. I used a xxclone program to try to clone it but it didnt work. What it did was take all the files from the main drive and clone them to the slave drive BUT it deleted to Operating system off the slave drive.
Now when I try to boot from the slave drive it is a black screen and it says it cant find the operating system. Ive put in the XP O/S CD but it wont read it. The black screen says to take out CD and press any button. Please help. We want to use the 40G drive |

Re: How do I load OS on a slave drive
If you just want to use the slave for storage - you don't need to install an OS on it.....Just use it for storage, it will be identified by the os as another drive. It may need initialized and formatted...

Re: How do I load OS on a slave drive
The clone will overwrite the the existing data. After the clone you will have to remove the original boot drive, replace it with the clone, and it should boot, if not then the clone is incorrect.
