Hard Drive reading incorrectly in Bios as DVD drive
I have just replaced the hard drive on a laptop and when i boot up the computer it does not detect a hard drive, in the bios, the drive is reading as DVDRAM, ive checked the jumpers (though no jumper configuration should make a hard drive read as a DVD drive) and tried connecting the hard drive to an external drive bay where it reads it fine and files can be copied and stored with no issues, however once in the laptop it only reads as a DVD drive. The old hard drive is completely destroyed so there is no way to test it to see if it was reading properly and id like to avoid having to purchase another hard drive to test if it would read correctly, any suggestions?
