WD800JD - 1.5gb Transfer Jumper
Hello.
I was asking you guys for some ideas on another username, but i forgot my pass on that username, and mail pass recovery doesnt seem to work. Anyway... Here i was having some trouble with ATA & SATA drives running together. In the meantime i changed my ATA drive for a Western Digital WD800JD. My mobo, a VIAK8M from Epox only allowes SATA to run at 1.5gb transfer rate. Here is my problem. I cannot get my PC to detect the drive. Tried all jumper settings. On the pins 5 & 6 it just stoppes soon after i start my PC. Before BIOS. The drive is not dead. I tested it on my brothers ACER PC that is only 1 yr old and supports 3GB transfer rate for SATAs. Tested it with no Jumper settings. It worked. Also has both Legacy and SATA power connectors... tried with both. No change. My BIOS version is Phoenix Award 6.00 if i remember exactly. Anyone has any ideas how i can make it run on my PC? Thanks in advanced. Pic with HDD with the jumper on 5&6. When PC shuts down after 1-2 secs. ![]() Pic with the MAXTOR HDD. Even with them both placed in it doesnt start.

Re: WD800JD - 1.5gb Transfer Jumper
I have another Question.
I installed windows on the MAXTOR drive. Didnt use the WD drive since i cannot start it. I'm having trouble with the MAXTOR drive. It keeps "Restarting" during games. Screen freezes and the only sound i hear is the sound of the HDD restarting to spin. I also got Delayed Write Fail Errors. Any chance you guys know if i can fix this? Or is the drive dying? ... its kinda old. |

Re: WD800JD - 1.5gb Transfer Jumper
I replaced the PSU with another one i could get my hands on.
Wich Power Suply should i use? Seems like that made the difference and my PC now starts properly with both HDDs in place. |
