Hard drive not detected?

Hi I built my computer less than a year ago and it has run perfectly until now. I was playing call of duty 4 when my screen went black and I restarted my computer. When it restarted it was trying to do a network boot or something and I checked bios to find that it isn't detecting my hard drive at all. I can hear the hard drive spinning when I turn the computer on and off and I have checked the data and power cables. I have also reset the cmos battery and set bios back to default and still it isn't being detected. It's still under warranty if it is dead but it is less than a year old and I can hear it spinning so maybe theres a fix? I have a desktop and a Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 ST31000528AS 1TB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive.

Re: Hard drive not detected?

What firmware version is it? Should say below the serial number.
Not sure if the 7200.12 model is affected, but if it is then you're in the same boat as me (buggered).
Seems less likely though as it died during activity rather then during a power cycle like the 7200.11's do.

Re: Hard drive not detected?

7200.12 firmware should be clean. At least as far as the issues that affected 7200.11's

Re: Hard drive not detected?

In Bios there is usually a setting for the sta port as IDE, Compatibility, or Legacy mode. the actual term will depend on the BIOS manufacturer and revision.
