Blue Screen of Death

It seems my old laptop has the Unmountable Boot Volume error. I tried to do a recovery with the disc, but the odd thing is that the f: drive comes up. It says everything is swell but it still has the blue screen. I just don't know what to do now. Help?

Re: Blue Screen of Death

Hello!

I'm sorry to hear that you are having problems with your system.

Could you please provide your full system specifications?

What type of laptop is it?

Are you running Windows VISTA on it as it shows under your OS in your profile?

Could you please describe the contents of your blue screen? Any codes or messages displayed?

Thank you very much!

Re: Blue Screen of Death

Thanks for responding. I ended up, at the advice of an IT friend, reinstalling Windows XP instead of repairing. (It's my old computer. A Dell Inspiron E1505 laptop that runs on Vista). And it works...Windows does. I was able to reinstall Office. But I can't seem to find my wireless now. It has the capability but its not found under internet options.

Re: Blue Screen of Death

Hi and you are very welcome.

Let's check and see if you have all of the drivers installed.

Click on START
Right click on MY COMPUTER
Left click on PROPERTIES
Select DEVICE MANAGER
Click on CONTINUE to allow permissions

In the DEVICE MANAGER do you see anything that has a ?, X, or !.

If you do not see any of those, please expand the NETWORK ADAPTERS portion and provide what is listed there.

Thank you!

When you right click on "my computer" click "manage" then you can select device manager in the left pane.

Re: Blue Screen of Death

You need to install the drivers after reinstalling xp. Here's a link to dell's support page
for the E1505.
http://support.dell.com/support/down...&catid=&impid=

As soon as the OS is installed, the chipset driver is the very first thing you should
install.

Re: Blue Screen of Death

Oh...hmmm...could I download it from the site to my new computer, save it to a disk, and load it on my old computer? Because I thought I downloaded the drivers but apparently not the right ones maybe :(

Re: Blue Screen of Death

Hi and thanks for the update.

Yes, you can download them to your new computer and put them on some type of media to transfer them to the one you are working on.

Thanks!
