My computer could not recognise SATA hd

hello, the ide hd on my system is dyeing. So I purchased a sata hd and installed it. But my system could not detect new hd. I connected the new sata hd to primary ide channel through a ide to sata converter (as suggested by a technician from western digital site).I searched tech support q&a's could not find ready solution but understand that it is a driver problem.Icould not found appropiate driver for my motherboard My system model is lenovo 9215-12Q came with a WD ide hd of 80 gb, 256mb RAM .mobo has two IDE ports only (no sata ports).I could not find out motherboard model and make but it is branded model and purchased new. Iam using xp as operating system please suggest . thanks.

Re: My computer could not recognise SATA hd

If you are connected through an adapter, no driver's needed the MoBo sees it as an IDE drive. Check your adapter and see if there is a jumper to se the drive as master.
