MyBook HD not auto-detected in bios setup
I have an older HP (model m1170n) and have a newer external MyBook 1 Terabyte drive (Western Digital).
The HD will not auto-detect in the bios when connected via SATA, however, it works fine when attached by either USB or Firewire. Western Digital recommends a bios update from HP to resolve this issue, and indicated that it is *not* possible to manually enter the HD's info in the bios setup to get it to work. I guess I'm ancient on computer terms - 45 - but I used to be able to manually enter HD info in the bios without any issue. Has this changed - and is it conceivable (or hopeless) to ask HP for a bios update? (I did ask them, but I doubt very much they'll have one). |

Re: MyBook HD not auto-detected in bios setup
Thanks - however - the list of enhancements in that bios doesn't include anything to do with sata drives. From that page;
Enhancements: # Resolves boot issue when HP Photosmart 8250 printer is connected. # Resolves intermittent issue with resuming from suspend mode. # Updates processor microcode to support newer Intel CPUs. Not possible to manually enter drive parameters in the bios anymore? |
