Automatic Acoustic Management

Hello

I have recently upgraded my hard drive to Samsung Spinpoint F3. I found that the noise level was quite high so I enabled the 'Quiet' mode AAM in my BIOS setup.

Later I found a utility on Samsung's site (ES-Tool) that also has the AAM functionality. I wonder if it does the same job as the one in BIOS setup? I tried to create a bootable DVD so I can run ES-Tool in DOS mode but it doesn't work. Would I be able to make my hard drive quieter after running the setup in ES-Tool or would it just be the same? Is it worth the effort of trying to get the bootable DVD to work?

You likely need a bootable CD...NOT a DVD.

I could be wrong, but the last I read about "quiet mode", the app simply slows the HDD RPM, thus making it quieter....AND slower.
