Bad Sectors
Hi,
I was wondering if someone could give me some help with my laptop. For some reason, bad clusters/sectors have been invading my laptop. I had to get a new one for this same reason last time. I can tell that this is what it is because of the clicking sounds the hard drive makes when loading various things. The only thing I have been able to do currently is use the tools under the hard drive properties and running a complete scan of every file to check for errors (for those of you curious of how to do this, if you're running Windows XP like me, go to your hard drive icon im my computer, right click and go to properties, and click tools, then repair where it says to check for errors). The first time I ran this scan, it only found one bad sector. Now, it has found 4. I do not know the nature of bad sectors, and do not know if they are spreading or what, but any help with this would be a big help. System Info: Compaq Presario 2100 Noteboook PC Windows XP 30 GB hard drive (Toshiba) approx. 12 gb space left If any other info needs to be known, let me know. |
