Acer extensa 4420 hard drive upgrade
I currently have a 160GB drive and I would like to upgrade it, preferable to a 500GB. How do I find out what my motherboard can support?

The only information that I can find, is the spec sheet which states "up to 160GB".
You could always get an external (USB or Firewire) HDD.

Re: Acer extensa 4420 hard drive upgrade
It's generally a question of how old the BIOS is. If it's new enough it will take 500GB - I have a 5 yr old board that took a 400GB IDE without problem, it's now running a 1TB SATA Hard Drive. While I'm not sure of the exact BIOS date on mine, it is definately older than 5 years because it wasn't a new BIOS when I bought the board.

Re: Acer extensa 4420 hard drive upgrade
If the factory drive was over 130 GB and NOT partitioned into smaller partitions, you should be good for juat about any drive.
