I need to know how to clean corrupt files aand find drivers.
Hi my friends on Tech support.
My desk top is a windows XP. It has some corrupt files and I would like to know how to get rid of them any help would be appreciated. The other question I have is I have a cd player unit that keeps needing cd drivers in it. Does anyone know how to find the drivers to fix my cd player? Thanks for your help. Re: I need to know how to clean corrupt files aand find drivers.
Right click the file and choose Delete. If it won't let you, download unlocker. To unlock the file. Internal CD drives do not require drivers. They are provided by Windows. Go to Start/Run and type devmgmt.msc and hit enter. In the Device Manager click on the + sign next to CD/DVD drive. Is there a yellow mark for the CD player? If not and it is listed, then you are installed. no driver required. Now go to My Computer. Is the CD drive listed? Again, no driver required.

Re: In need of help for corrupt files.
What exactly are you trying to uninstall? Is it listed in Add/Remove Programs? Does it give you an error if you try to uninstall from there?

Re: In need of help for corrupt files.
HI, Thanks for responding. I had to uninstall Nero 7 because I just put in a new DVD cd player that had Nero 8 for the software for DVD player. Well It became a nightmare as the files were not all there I found the CD to fix and then remove it, well then I tried to install Nero 8 and it said it had to remove Nero 6 I was like gee what the heck it does not show up on my Add and remove programs. I do not have that disc and do not even know how it got on my system. My Dvd player and Cd player I installed will work for Cd's but not for my DVD player so I need to install this to help it read my dvd's. Is there any way I can find Nero 6 I did scan computer for it and still could not find it. It says the file is corrupt too Strange.
Thanks for any help you could provide. |

Re: In need of help for corrupt files.
I have another idea for you if you're still here.
Go to run, and type in "msconfig", without the ""'s. Then go to Services. Then check "Hide all Microsoft services", and then de'activate the remaining ones. Then restart your computer, and try to install it again. Don't know if it'll helped, and i didn't really bother reading your post, so i don't know what kinda corrupt files your talking about, but still; Try it. |

Re: Corrupted files on hard drive.
Hi Jeanie,
What is the exact error message you get when you try to access these files? There are various options which may repair or remove the files. What concerns me is the cause of the corruption. If it is caused by a malware infection on your system then it is more than likely to happen again in the future. If it is caused by a dying hard drive then worse things will happen (such as your computer becoming unusable). I suggest you do the following: 1. Copy any files that are important to you (documents, spreadsheets, accounts, emails, address books and so on) to a separate drive, USB flash drive or CD/DVD. 2. Go here or here and run one of the free online scanners. If anything malicious shows up then I suggest you read and follow the instructions here. Note that you will be posting in the Virus/Trojan/Spyware Help forum - logs posted in any other forum will be removed. 3. Open Device Manager (go to Start, type devmgmt.msc in the Command Box and click OK). Click the arrow to the left of the 'Disk Drives' entry and note the exact make and model of your hard drive. Post that information here and we can then advise on a diagnostic program you can test your drive with.

Re: In need of help for corrupt files.
I realize it's for Nero 7 - it might try to remove Nero 6 though too. Did you give it a shot?
It seems this might work for you, it has worked for others. http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/U...l-Bundle.shtml |
