wd digital hard drives will no show up in bios as master
new wd ide drive will only show up as slave when set up as slave. but will not show up as master when jumpers set to master. already tried other wd drive that i put in before and same result. all other brands show up fine as master or slave. tried no jumpers at all also flashed bios and replaced cable no help. first wd drive worked fine then decided to use on older comp. and bought new for my comp. and now this. so tried to put other wd drive back in and it also will not show up as a master in bios, but all other brands i have do. they both show up fine in my other pc. I have no other drives on this channel and also same result on secondary ide channel

Re: wd digital hard drives will no show up in bios as master
WD has two jumper settings for master, depending if there is a slave on teh channel with it. No jumper is master/standalone ( no slave ) and the jumper on the pins in the diagram is Master with slave present.

Re: wd digital hard drives will no show up in bios as master
unfortunately as i listed on first post, already tried the no jumper setting and had no luck. I believe I have a power supply problem as i have found my fan went bad, do you think this could cause this sort of a problem? But yet all of my other brand drives show up fine and the first wd drive did too about a month ago. I can also set up WD drives as slaves no problem. I noticed in bios settings that sometimes after a few minutes it will show up but when i reboot it does not. Both WD drives show up fine as master when i install them on my other computer.
