WD passport essential problam

hello all,

I bought WD my passport essential, 320G. When I plugged it into one computer it worked fine, but when I plugged it to my computer it does a weird thing: the light on the HD (WD) is blinks (as if processing), the computer don't see it AND THEN there's briefly a 'blue screen of death' and the computer then restarts.

Tried: connecting to other USB's; connecting it in safe mode; updating all drivers.
(The blue screen of death disappear too quick for me to see what's wrong)

help, please....

Re: WD passport essential problam

Control Panel / System / Advanced tab / click on the "Startup and Recovery" Settings button / and uncheck "Automatically restart"

You should then be able to read the BSOD.

Aside from that, it sounds like an issue with your PC (XP) and not the HDD. Ensure you have all of the latest drivers installed (especially the motherboard drivers) and that you have SP3 with all of the latest updates installed.
