Hard drive click click sound

Helllo!

I just bought a dell inspirion 1545 laptop. It runs well but there is this clicking sound coming from the hard drive thats really getting my nerves. Its a click click noise every 4 to 5 seconds as long as the computer is turned on. It does this all the time, even when Im not doing anything with the computer. I also notice an even louder click from the hard drive during shutdown. I have never heard anything like this on my previous laptops. My concern is there may be a problem with the hard drive. Or its ok and its just annoying. Does anyone else have a dell inspiron 1545 that makes a similar noise?

when a hard drive makes a clicking sound it usually indicates that the hard drives platters are failing. This will end up being a hard drive failure so you need to be taking the laptop back to where you got it from and either have the system replaced or a new hard drive.
