Hi Can you help? Toshiba HD failure??
Hi I have a Toshiba Satellite, Its got an upgraded sys to a 3GB ram and just upgraded the hard drive to a 12GB - I had this problem before the new hard drive was installed, but it came to a blue screen situation. So i resolved to reload the OS using the recovery CD, and now it says file is missing or corrupt:
\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM its on an XP pro os. The RAM came updated with the computer, I had the problem on the old hard drive too, only briefly although reloading the os by the recovery cd's seems to have worked although i then wanted to buy a new one with more memory. How can the ram not be compatible, cos it was formatted and the old HD had faulty partitions- could this have corrupted the bios in the processor? How do i boot up into the bios, currently I can only get DOS. I try the boot options, but it only lets you change the start-up boot sequence, as in from disk floppy, hard or PC card. How do i boot into the BIOS? my god its serious but where can i get a replacement? please any ideas? |

Re: Hi Can you help? Toshiba HD failure??
The "file is missing or corrupt:" would seem to indicate your recovery CD is corrupt/damaged or your CD/DVD drive cannot read it.
