Hard disk error forces XP to reboot.
I have a problem with my Desktop system hard disk. It seems to have some error that, whenever a particular data or file is the error area of the hard disk, the system (windows xp) suddenly reboots. This kind of error is in some other places and is in 3 partitions (C, D and E). Only Partition F is fine. All partitions are NTFS.
Even when I do an antivirus scan, whenever the scanner tries to scan the same error areas of the partitions, Windows xp also reboots in the same way as if I try to access / open the same data which is located in the error areas of the hard disk. Hence I am not able to access the data in the error areas. Any help with this problem? |

Re: Hard disk error forces XP to reboot.
Missed this one sorry... try scanning the drive with MHDD or HDDScan both available from www.hddguru.com. They will check smart attributes as well as do a surface scan and report slow as well as bad sectors. You could also try Victoria for Windows to get the same information. MHDD may perform better since it is DOS based, you can DL a dos bootable cd image.
