should I upgrade to a hard drive with more memory?

Hello, tech support.

I have a question about the clear Ibook G3 with disk tray I've recently purchased.

I'm pretty sure the current hard drive in the computer is somewhere around 30 gigs. I have filled it up entirely, and now have to delete programs whenever I need to download something. My intuition also tells me that the lack of space i have on my computer is causing it to perform very slowly. (anyone who can confirm my suspicions?)

I decided to checkout a possibly hard drive upgrade, and came across a 160 gig (link --->)http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...ht_2413wt_1002

I'm thinking of buying it, but I know a great deal of work lies ahead if I do.

So far, I know that before I do anything, I have to uninstall my current hard drive, and replace it with a new one. I know that this takes time and effort, but I'm prepared to be patient.

I also know that if I want any of the files on my existing hard drive, (which I definitely do) I'd have to purchase a hard drive clone/copy kit.

I am very close to purchasing all of the above, but before I do i need to clarify something. Will buying all of this stuff be a waste of time if I don't have the proper OSX startup disk? I purchased this laptop off of a forum, and it did not come with one.

If it is in fact necessary, which version should I go with? and where could I buy it?

Lastly, is there any easier solution than doing all of this?

It seems like a bit of an ordeal..

Help is much appreciated.

Thanks!

Re: should I upgrade to a hard drive with more memory?

You could simply get an external hard drive.
