Copying data from crashed XP to new vista system?
hi,
I have a windows XP system that got crashed. It doesnt have a CD/DVD player. So I cant boot it using a CD. It doesnt support USB based booting. I tried several options like safe boot, windows with command prompt etc. It just stops at mup.sys. I gave up on this but I have all my personal data on this. I just purchased a new vista and I want to copy files from my old hard disk. Is it possible to get data? I really want help on this. Thanks Raju |

Re: Copying data from crashed XP to new vista system?
you have a couple of options. You can get a USB device that you connect the hard drive from your XP computer too, and plug it into the vista computer.
two devices you can use to do that, first is one like this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16812156102 or the other option is an extern hard drive enclosure http://www.newegg.com/Store/SubCateg...nal-Enclosures you just need to pick one that your hard drive fits. If its a desktop, then its a 3.5" drive, laptop will have a 2.5" drive. |
