Lost Image Files... Help
Hi All,
I hope someone here can help! A couple of weeks back a 4 month old WD 640gb HDD started to play up, I dumped everything off the drive, reformatted but got loads of bad sectors… removed drive today to send back to WD. I have just noticed that all my back up Image files have disappeared from another WD drive this one only 2 months old! I have run some recovery programmes, both of which find the files (as deleted files) but none of them contain any data, ie: 0 bytes. Anyone have any idea how and if I can recover the images? BTW these files were not deleted, one minute they were there and then they were gone! They are mainly photos that I do not have hard copies of, so would really like to get them back if possible. Thanks in advance |

Re: Lost Image Files... Help
Did you scan the disk with Getdataback or just open the file system it presented to you. Try r-studio demo and scan the physical disk and see what it returns. Will take several hours at least to scan ( I just scanned a 1.5TB raid that took 25 hours on a core2duo with 8GB of RAM, so be patient)

Re: Lost Image Files... Help
Hi Raptor,
I just let the wizard do it, it took about 4 hours (1tb WD) step 1 - select drive, then clicked next and away it went, I did tell it to search for deleted files though, and used the default settings rather than settings for I have formatted or I have physical damage.. will give r-studio a go though... Thanks for that Quote:

Re: Lost Image Files... Help
Hi Raptor,
Just finished running R-Studio, like the other 2 recoverys, it found all the file names but no data contained within... in R-Studio they all had red cross through them... Dont suppose you have any other ideas that might help? Thanks |

Re: Lost Image Files... Help
Not with the results you are seeing. It could be a firmware issue witht he drive but without special equipment it is hard to be certain. How many recognized file systems did r-studio find after the scan? If more than one recognized# file system is shown under the drive, you could try opening different versions. Look for one where the capacity matches the drive more closely.

Re: Lost Image Files... Help
Hi Raptor,
Decided to bite the bullet, went and got another 1tb WD, and Just finishing off full format on the old one… figured the data was dead and gone anyway. Just waiting for it to finish so I can check for any bad sectors, and back it to WD if there is, hopefully it will be clean to save $30.00 sending it back to them! Thanks anyway Funster |
