32 Bit ~VS~ 64 Bit

Old Comp
XP Pro Pent. 3
Full HD Fat 32

New Comp.
XFX GeForce 8200 w/8G ram
400G HD
Need vista 64 (& later W7)

I have 1 TB external HD

Can I backup C: on old Comp. to ext. HD (32 bit)
& then build new PC & restore backups to new Comp. as 64 bit files?
If not, can I use XP MODE to access these files?

Re: 32 Bit ~VS~ 64 Bit

Data files will restore fine, no difference, apps will need to be reinstalled because the registry entries and support DLLs will be missing in the new windows install. They will run as 32 bit apps, in order for an app to run as a 64 bit app, it has to be written and compiled for 64 bit. 32 bit apps will also only use ~3GB of your ram.
