Transfer data from corrupt HDD to new HDD
I recently discovered that my hard drive has a corrupt registry and have done everything I can think of and also what other people have suggested but unfortunately the problem is still occurring. I have a spare WD hard drive that I was intending to install along side my first hard drive. To avoid losing all of my data on my primary HDD I was thinking of doing the following but have never attempted it so I could do with some advice on whether the following will work.
1: Disconnect my primary HDD 2: Connect the WD HDD, format it and install Windows (including any required updates) 3: Reconnect the HDD with the corrupt registry 4: Transfer data from the corrupt HDD to the new WD HDD Is this possible? If not is there some way of transferring data from the corrupt HDD to the WD HDD? Any advice would be much appreciated as I have pretty much run out of ideas. |

Re: Transfer data from corrupt HDD to new HDD
Basically you have the sequence, only thing you may have to do is take ownership of the files on the corrupt HD since the security environment has changed with the new install. Search teh forum for 'take ownership' for tutorials on that process.
