Reinstalled windows xp pro, audio lost
Recently, I reinstalled my windows xp pro because of lagging graphics and major slow down of computer performance and some weird glitches. It was all fixed by the reinstallation of windows xp pro, I reinstalled with clean keys and nothing went wrong until I checked my sound.
I found my sound driver missing, I installed my graphic card ( Intel 82945G on-board graphics ) and then updated my imposingly Realtek AC'97 audio.... I tried going to different sites to download the driver and installed and uninstalled them step by step. It all led to a success installation but the device remains to not work ( my speaker is working and it's on ) with the error ( 10 ) inside the device manager properties. Any information needed to aid me in solving this problem would be provided as asked to... so.... I hope someone will provide me a solution to this problem... Cheers |

Re: Reinstalled windows xp pro, audio lost
What's the make and model of your motherboard, if self built? Or make an model of computer if it's from an oem manufacturer?
The appropriate one will have the sound drivers that you need.

Re: Reinstalled windows xp pro, audio lost
Look at the mainboard tab in cpu-z, it'll tell the motherboard. That's good if it was built by your father's friend. It'll tell the board in an OEM machine too, but some of them use the same board in different models. Is the anything on the case itself? Often the computer manufacturer's will put the model on there, or on the xp COA (Certificate of Authenticity) which should be on the back of the computer, look for one of those. If there's no coa, try cpu-z then.
