Feel like this might be an HD problem, but i dunno
Well at least im more certain of where this post goes, MAYBE.
Anyway, despite the new RAM and HDD (my previous issues are stated in a closed topic on the motherboard forum) i'm once again having major issues with my PC (the new parts took care of some but here we go again). Basically it happened today where during some Team Fortress 2 gameplay the game locks up (which is bad because then i can't get out for anything) and I'm stuck being unable to do anything except speak on Vent, as was usually the case. Well, as soon as I restart i get a "disk read error" once again, like when my previous bargain drive was failing. So i restart once more and get something like "System Image corrupted" or something about "boot[mgr/img]"being corrupted. No idea what that is. I tried booting in safe mode to get here to post but that only got so far before locking up again, and on another attempt the PC was so sluggish it basically wasnt going anywhere. However, before all this I had a very random BSOD happen early in the morning which just as suddenly as it occurred, got fixed on its own. Thats whats been happening just now and im at a TOTAL loss now as to what it could be save for a few of the same ideas i had from before =/ it's gotta be either my OS (which I am pretty certain is a pirated backup my brother provided after i lost my XP and Vista discs, even if its labeled Genuine Software by the OS itself) so maybe after working for awhile it's just.. failing? I dunno. His only idea besides agreeing on the OS thing was that maybe the mid-grade motherboard (ASRock) i bought could be causing these problems. But the whole thing with the disk read error and the bootmgr w/e being corrupted (only popped up once) tells me its the OS or this totally new hard drive =/ thats pretty much the whole story. I really don't know what else could be the issue after replacing the defective hard drive and removing the 2x1 RAM.. I'll try to check back once a day, but as far as ideas or solutions go remember that my PC is pretty unreliable for tests atm and I am on a borrowed laptop presently so i can't do slave tests and that type of thing. Oh! The difference i can see this time with this, is that my Vista OS IS being detected when i pop in the disc and go to the repair/restore menu. before my drive didn't know i had an OS in it before. I'm going to try a SysRestore to see if I can bring back the PC to some level of stability. Anyway, thanks as usual. This PC is such a headache these days. I'd love to have a normal OS disc but those cost too much to buy a 2nd time =/ not even sure thats the problem. |

Re: Feel like this might be an HD problem, but i dunno
Read this and your last thread - I doubt this is the last we'll hear about this. There are too many vague things about your system that need addressing (particularly the fake o/s and possibly a weak PSU).
