Secondary hard drive's file system gone after primary drive format and xp reinstall

Ok so here's the deal, I re-installed my Windows XP (original CD) on my main hard drive the other day, and since then my secondary hard drive shows up in the administrative tools hard drive manager as a RAW file system, with only 128 go being allocated, and the rest of the 300 go being shown as not allocated. However, it is picked up fine in the BIOS and any hard drive restoration tools

This problem has happened to me like 4 years ago, I remember it being a little problem with windows XP

The harddrive was setup properly prior to me formatting and reinstalling XP on my main drive

Now everytime I want to open it, it asks me if I want to format (which i CAN'T because it's my backup drive and all my documents and important files are on it)

Know that I tried the hard drive in another computer (the one where it was plugged in originally, and it works FINE)

Also, my main drive is IDE and my secondary drive is SATA (yes I know, im changing my computer soon anyways)

So here's a summary

C: 20go (Formatted and installed fresh WinXP) (don't ask why it's so small, lol)
D: 300go (Stayed in the computer, was perfectly functionnal, now after format of C: it says there's no more file system)

So my question is... How can Windows XP recognize the file system that was on my D: originally ??

I'm out of ideas

(Here's a picture of what's happening, sorry for the french my OS is in french)

Oh and yes I renamed it to Z

Re: Secondary hard drive's file system gone after primary drive format and xp reinsta

Disconnect (just in case) the SATA drive and boot the system. Install SP2 and any other updates for XP. Once done shut down the system and reconnect the SATA drive. Reboot and it should now work. The earlier versions (pre SP2) of XP lacked 48bit addressing and could therefore only "see" 127 gig. SP2 rectifies this problem and, once installed, should give you access to the whole drive.
