bootable partition help

Hello,

I'm trying to create a bootable partition so I can dualboot both my Windows Vista and Ubuntu. Problem is, when I create the partition, I can't seem to boot the Ubuntu CD to it. I can't find a way to make the partition bootable. Any help?

Thanks in advance.

Re: bootable partition help

Not sure what you mean by boot the Ubuntu CD to it, I assume you mean you want to install Ubuntu to another partition? Make sure your cd rom is set higher than your HD in the boot order, then it should boot the Ubuntu disk. How did you burn the ISO to the cd? You can't just burn the iso, the ISO is an image. When the CD boots, you should have an option to install Ubuntu. Don't format the partition however, the install process will take care of that.

My apologies for saying "boot the Ubuntu CD to it". Yes, you are correct, I am trying to install Ubuntu onto another partition. How exactly do you change boot order?

Re: bootable partition help

The boot order is in the BIOS, different BIOS may have it on different screens.
