(threw in some old games)

Ive look all over for a solution for it to show my hard drives so i can format my new WD.

What can i do?

Re: HDD's not showing up in disk managment HELP!

Think i figured out whats causing my problems. I downloaded Data Lifeguard Diagnostic for Windows from WD. Its showing my 2 working hard drives (including C) as logical hard drives and not physical hard drives. Thats why they arent showing up in disk management. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Re: HDD's not showing up in disk managment HELP!

think of Physical hard drives can actually be placed in your hands ........when partitioned they are physically there

logical partitions are there in thoery or logic ..........logical drives are developed from partitions

thats how you get C / D / E drives all off one drive

your partitions are not set up correctly

download and use the free program called EASUS Partition Manager home edition
\
then delete all partitions on the new hard drive / then create the partitions as you like them ......... a hard drive can have 4 primary partitons and more logical one

stick with labeling each partition as a primary partition

then use that same program to format the drives with NTFS its fast as hell

each time you have the program perform a task .........you must hit the "apply" button on the lower right corner of the program

Re: HDD's not showing up in disk managment HELP!

where did you buy the hard drive ? it may be possible the drive is formatted with a file system for a MAC, therefore windows may not see it ?

EASEUS should answer your questions

Re: HDD's not showing up in disk managment HELP!

I got it brand new from newegg. Hmmm im not sure you understand what im trying to say, but i came to this. I couldnt see my drives in disk management because they were logical, western digital data lifeguard diagnostic tool told me i had 0 physical drives and 2 optical. The 2 optical ones were my main C drives and my S storage drive. They should by physical and not logical drives. So after some searching and troubleshooting producing nothing i decided to use combofix. I dont know why i decided to do that but i did, it recently saved my butt from a really really bad case of system security 2009. So i unplugged my new WD HD, restarted my system and checked the drives. They were still logical. So i ran combofix, it finished and my 2 drives were back to physical and everything was working fine. I then replugged in my new WD HD, booted up, check the status of the HD's and they were all back to logicals. (couldnt see the WD one because it hasnt been formatted because whenever its plugged in it makes all my drives go logical and thus dont show up on disk management among other things) So i emailed WD and im just waiting on a reply from them. The hard drive is messing up my other seagates.
