I have a Lenovo 3000 N100 running Vista i did try and run Chkdsk and it said it had to run on startup but then it dosent run, i also a restore of my operating system back to 2008 but didnt make a difference.

Re: LogonUI.exe

Have you tried to install a new theme or skins to the OS?

Re: LogonUI.exe

your logonui.exe might be corrupt, I don't know what "ink" is , maybe " Link "? if it is, it could be anything.

to fixed your logonui.exe you can do what you just did again, go to safe mode press "f8" before windows load and restore you system to a earlier time (try the earliest time restore)

2nd. boot using vista disc and attempt to repair your windows

3. copy a "logonui.exe" from another system and replace yours, this is tricky due to windows user access, you might not even able to copy and overwrite even in safe mode, you will need a expert to do this one

Good luck

Re: LogonUI.exe

have you attemped to do a System Restore To a Point this was not a problame if logonui.exe is corrupted it will be very difficult to fix and you will not have permisions to copy and paste the file.
to run chkdsk go start----> Run---> cmd.exe
Type chkdsk /f
then reboot if chkdsk does not work then go back into cmd.exe and type "at" [add a time] interactive cmd.exe this will run command prompt [cmd] at the time you entered make sure the data entered is in millatry form [eg. 13:28] then repeat the chkdsk /f command
