Formatting a Raw Hard Drive
I would like to know how to format a raw hard drive. My husband used to do mine but since we split he would now rather bounce them off my head. I bought some reconditioned WD 80G hard drives on ebay and altho the light lights up there is nothing on it. How would I format this drive?
I know they work or some of them work as he formatted some of them. I should mention that they are external drives and I just put them in an enclosure thanks Last edited by Barbie793; 06-25-2009 at 01:02 PM. |

Re: Formatting a Raw Hard Drive
Right cvlick my computer -> manage -> diskmanagement the locate teh drive in the right pane lower view, right click on the gray area to the left and initialize, then right click on the white area representing the drive and create new partition, that wizard will prompt you to format after teh partition information is gathered.

Re: Formatting a Raw Hard Drive
Great, thanks so much. I've learned so much from this forum. You guys are life savers. I am an intermediate user but hardware is really not my thing.
Again, thanks. |
