wd 1 TB EXTERNAL hard drive not showing drive in my laptop

Hi there
I have WD 1 tb external hard drive it was working fine since i lend it to my friend he says it didn't work now since i have got it i examined tried reinstalling usb ports,tried to see in recovery software's but recovery software can't even read it says sector something something. hard drive makes 3,4 hish hish sound and lights blue as soon as it is connected then safely remove icon appears just that there is no drive in device manager it shows just WD but nothing is in disk manager. I tried changing the drive letter but there isn't any drive when i open disk manager can you please help me it just makes hissss sound at the beginning then stop no sound just light .i will be waiting for you reply...thanking you

Test the drive on another computer. If it doesn't work on another PC either, then it's likely a drive issue. If it works on another PC, then the problem is with your laptop.

Download the western digital datalifeguard diagostics and see if that can see the disk.

the data diagostics can't look for drive does that mean my drive can't function anymore any way to get my data back friends ..i have tried in different computer as well...

Next step is to remove the drive from teh USB enclosure and try connecting it directly to a desktop as an internal drive to make sure the USB interface isn't the problem. This also will tell you if the drive is being detected by bios correctly.
